Cornea is the outermost transparent layer of the front of eye ball.
It allows the light to pass through the eye and form the picture on
the retina. Our eye is like a camera then cornea is the Lens and
Retina is the photographic film. So any disease affecting the cornea
can lead to decreased vision.Since it is in contact with the
atmosphere and also it is very important for the vision it has to be
protected and looked after well.
If it becomes opaque it leads to corneal blindness which can only be
treated by keratoplasty, Acute pain, redness, watering photophobia
may be due to corneal ulcer which should be promptly treated.
