    SINGH SAHIB GIANI SADHU SINGH JI BHAURA  Worked all his life for the cause of humanity and for the upliftment of the down trodden- He strived to remove inequality in society even risking his own life; and finally achieved the highest politico-temporal seat in the sikh world that of being the 'Jathedhar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib'. He maintained the high esteem of Akal Takht Sahib for 16 long years-the longest in the history of Sri Akal Takht Sahib so far, A humble down to earth person, with pleasing personality, who would go out of his way to help any body in need. He was very truthful, religious, pious man who stood very firm for his principles. 

   He was the son of Bhai Ran Singh Ji and mata Atam Kaur. He was born in 6th June 1905 at Chakk No.7 a village in Lyallpur district (now in pakistan).After matriculation from Khalsa High School Lyallpur (where Master Tara Singh, later a  leading figure in sikh politics was the headmaster),he joined police force, which he soon left to take part in Akali agitation for Gurdwara 

  reform,  From 1926-1928 he studied at Shahid Sikh Missionary college, Amritsar, to train as a missionary. From 1928 he headed to sikh preaching centre in Uttar Pradesh at Aligarh and Hapur. Here he baptised over 50,000 sikhs at one time which is probably history of its own. He was an undisputed leader of the masses.
He was member of the Executive Committee of Shiromani Akali Dal from 1955 to 1960. He was also the general secretary of Akali Dal. He took part in several political agitations launched by the party. He was appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh- Anandpur Sahib from 1961 to 1964. He was elevated to the position of Jathedar 'Sri Aka! Takht Sahib-the highest seat of religious authority and legislation for the sikhs, In 1980 in an effort to avert a vertical split in the Akal Dal, he formed a 7 member committee of senior party leaders to function as collegiate executive, but he soon resigned from his post. He left this world, on 7th March 1984. He is survived by 3 daughters, bibi Surinder Kaur, Mohinder Kaur & Rajinder Kaur and 2 sons     S. Harveil Singh & S. Balbir Singh. Dr. Balbir Singh Bhaura who is an ophthalmologist took up his fathers mission-to Do good for the society and started Akal Eye Hospital with the blessings of 'AKAL PURAKH' the ALMIGHTY GOD and Sri AKAL TAKHT and hence the name AKAL EYE HOSPITAL; where every effort is made to upkeep the High Traditions and honesty. This was a dream of Singh Sahib and every effort is being to make this hospital a leader in modern science and technology and still maintaining honesty and dignity of its name.
